Faunasphere’s Lead Designer Reflects on How We Got Here.

Hello Fauna Folks,

Some of you may be thinking, “Who’s this guy?” Fair enough. I’m not a noticeable participant in the community like vivacious Solice or dependable Mgallant. But rest assured, I’ve been here listening and learning since, well, forever.

Faunasphere is the result of many people’s hard work and imagination, but it all started four years ago with a conversation with my long-time friend and co-worker, Jeremy Friesen.

Being geeks, we wondered if  a massively multiplayer game could be made for a more casual audience. At the time, it seemed like a contradiction. It would have to be accessible, but still provide countless hours of enjoyment. It would need to be playable in short bursts of time, but still reward those who wanted to invest more of themselves in the world. A game that encouraged but did not require socialization. A place where people were challenged, but could feel comfortable. But most importantly, it would have to be a fantastic world that ordinary people would want to inhabit.

Ultimately, we envisioned a game that we could play, that our moms could play too.

We hope you agree that Faunasphere is the realization of that inspiration.

So it is with great pride and immense satisfaction that the team and I announce the launch of Faunasphere. Whether you're an experienced gamer or a first-timer to MMOs, we hope you'll enjoy playing as much as we do.
